fabrication

A strong aspect of MISC.Studio was our ability to develop fabrication technologies in house. This knowledge allowed us to quickly pivot our designs and push the envelope of what is possible with a bare minimum of required technologie. The printer was constructed using a delta style 3d printer as a base. This FDM printer was a good choice as the movement axises are not coupled to the print bed. Each axis works by combining three vertical linear movements connected at 120 degrees relative to each other on the “effector plate”. This central plate is what holds the mathematical center of the machine, and thus allows for the control of depositing a material.

above//below was a project aimed at revitalizing Gothenburg harbor by fabricating habitat structures underwater while also creating a space above the surface to facilitate ecological stewardship. Misc.Lab conducted and completed this pilot project with the help of Älvstranden utveckling, Passalen, Gothenburg University, and IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute.
