A project to revitalize Gothenburg's harbor through the fabrication of underwater habitat structures, paired with an above-surface space dedicated to ecological stewardship. Led by Misc.Lab in collaboration with Älvstranden Utveckling, Passalen, Gothenburg University, and IVL Swedish Environmental Research Institute, this pilot project resulted in a temporary pavilion at Frihamnen in the heart of Gothenburg, Sweden. The pavilion was designed as both a public outreach platform and a pedagogical space at the water's edge. Crowdfunded and self-built by the team, it has hosted a range of programming from educational summer activities for children to lunchtime DJ sets. As part of the master thesis study, we also deployed modules in Kristineberg in the northern part of Bohuslän. This acts as a control set that allows for a statistical comparison between the growth of the two distinct environments. As part of this research, we have received photos of various animals found on these modules. 2022
